Why Adoption Fees?
Our adoption fees provide a portion of the costs that accrue in caring for and housing the homeless animals who are walked through our doors every day. As an open door shelter, we never turn away any animal. Fees also help subsidize medical care and evaluation each animal. Other services provided are listed under the categories below.
Dog Adoption Fees
The Western PA Humane Society pays the initial yearly fee for a City of Pittsburgh dog license. (Adopters are responsible for renewal license fee. If adopter resides outside of the city of Pittsburgh, adopter is responsible to obtain and pay dog license fee.)

Cat Adoption Fees
ADOPTION SPECIAL! Kittens: $75 / Adult Cats: $35

*Please note that vaccines may need to be boostered after adoption. The cost of boosters is the owner's responsibility. |
